IHG patents new concept for Crowne Plaza encouraging guests to work, relax and recharge in a new environment

The WorkLife Room is designed to help modern business travellers unleash their productivity and provide them with a space that ts their lifestyle.

The concept has been developed as part of the Crowne Plaza “Accelerate” program, IHG’s €177.6 million, multi- year investment to transform the Crowne Plaza brand in the Americas region. Following the WorkLife Room’s market debut in early 2017, patent approval marks a major milestone in the brand’s aim to bring innovative design to the fold for the modern business traveller.

With a exible environment and distinct zones that encourage guests to work, relax and recharge, the key elements of WorkLife guestrooms include an angled bed, which opens up more space for the room’s distinct zones. The cocooning headboard, Beautyrest mattress, and Sleep Advantage aromatherapy kit help guests rest.

The Sofa nook is a multi-purpose space for reading, watching TV, working, meeting with colleagues or for enjoying room service. The desk area offers an uncluttered workspace where guests can focus, while wireless printing to the Business Centre helps you get things done on the road.

The welcome station is a space for keys, bags and coats and the bathroom features a modern and bright design.

With connectivity key for the modern traveller, the WorkLife Room delivers with fast, free Wi-Fi and enough charging stations – comprised of USB and power outlets – to power up to 14 devices.

The WorkLife Room was carefully conceptualised, tested around the world in prototype format and in fully built hotels. The WorkLife Room is currently rolling out in Crowne Plaza properties across the USA. 3,000 WorkLife Rooms are expected to be installed this year.
