NYC & Company have launched a major new campaign entitled, “New York City – Welcoming the World”. Already launched in some regions since this summer, the campaign aims to counter the “à prioris” of a number of tourists about the welcome being offered to foreigners in the USA since the change of administration in Washington DC.
“Given the geopolitical situation we are really pushing the message that highlights our diversity,” stated Christopher Heywood, Senior Vice President, Global Communications, for NYC & Company. “We oppose any impediment to international travel. We have been very vocal about trying to make sure New York is well positioned to welcome as many visitors as possible.”
The continued revitalisation of Lower Manhattan, including a new ferry system, and a massive new development project in Western Manhattan are among key points of interest being promoted by NYC & Company.
Reginald Charlot, Managing Director, Tourism Development, Mature Markets, explains that fam tours are still an important part of his organisation’s strategy: “We need to show the agents what’s new and different in New York so they can communicate that back to their clients. We also do product manager and marketing manager fams as well”.
