Long awaited, Dakar’s new Blaise-Diagne International Airport, should finally open its doors by December of this year. NEW DAKAR AIRPORT DUE TO OPEN BY DECEMBER 2016The airport was originally planned for 2012 and then consequently delayed. The future facility will replace the ageing Leopold Sendar Senghor Airport. Located 45 km southeast of Dakar city centre in the administrative district of Thiès, Blaise Diagne International Airport will offer excellent conditions for 3 million passengers in its first phase of development. Six passenger bridges will provide direct access to aircraft. Some 26 commercial jets will be able to be parked on the apron.
